Emotional Alchemy I: The Power of Energy In Motion

Introduction

In this blog post, I am going to be talking about Emotional Alchemy, going deep into the meaning and practice of Alchemy, removing misconceptions about the practice of Alchemy, the use of emotions as the essence of all alchemical practice, as well as a few examples and exercises to get you started on basic alchemical techniques for emotional and mental regulation.

What is Alchemy?

Whenever I hear the word alchemy, the first thing that used to come to mind is turning lead into gold, literally. When you look at the whole thing in this light, it sounds less like chemistry and more like magic. Merlin type magic... I mean that sort of magic that has been labelled virtually impossible by the standards in which we live today.

The word alchemy has been thrown around so much, but as I soon learned, not everyone truly knew the meaning of it or how to work it. There is no record of any mage actually turning lead into gold using this practice. Famous magicians, yes. Famous alchemist... not so much.

Anyway, when I truly started taking the whole thing seriously was when I found "The Secret," you know, The Law of Attraction. I found that this word "alchemy" was being thrown around often, so naturally, I looked it up. It says "lets you turn lead to gold," and I was like "nah... want to manifest cash in bills," and with that I threw the word right out of my mind, and that was it.

Fast forward years later, after many failed attempts to make the law of attraction work, I turned my attention to other laws, and apparently, there were many of them. Then I learned about the law of assumption, which was basically the same as the law of attraction, but this law was not asking nicely. Let's say the law of attraction is the good cop, and the law of assumption is the bad cop; bad cop gets things done.

One thing they both had in common was that you do not manifest what you want, but what you are. This, ladies and gents, is the intersection where alchemy joins the journey.

At this point, I learned that alchemy was never about literally turning lead to gold (though I am sure this is not impossible); alchemy, by my standard, is about turning a lesser form of energy (a negative vibration) into a higher form (positive vibration).

Turning trashy emotions into treasure.

What is an emotion?

An emotion is a feeling, and feelings can only be felt within one's body. Basically, when we sense the energies moving through our nervous system, we say that we are feeling our emotions. Energy in Motion flows in currents through the human organism.

When it feels good, it's positive, and when it doesn't, then it's negative. (Trash.. you just want to get rid of it. No stomach for it at all. Few people enjoy entertaining lower vibrations, and most of them are either depressed or psycho.... they are not normal, is what I mean.

Your thoughts are what give feelings direction. heard of the saying "where attention goes, energy flows"? Thinking about a painful memory is bound to raise those painful emotions; likewise, thinking of a happy memory brings about those elated emotions.

Thoughts, vibrations, charged emotions, and more emotions stimulate thoughts of the same vibrational wavelength.

In essence, the picture I am trying to paint here is of emotion as energy moving through the body, and thoughts are the driver, you are the steering wheel, based on the thoughts you think and the feelings that you entertain, which is a packaged deal with the thoughts and vice versa. That being said, you do not want to be caught in a bad loop of this thinking-feeling dynamic.

Luckily, there is always a way out of a bad loop.... mindfulness and self-awareness.

Insights Into The True Meaning of Alchemy

So the next time you hear the word alchemy, let turning to lead to gold only come to mind as a metaphor for energetic transformation. Turning enegetic trash into treasure. Taking a bad feeling and turning it into a good feeling. Transmutation of states of being. You catch my drift?

Cool story, bro... how does this help me again?

Well, if you can transform bad feelings into good ones, then you can easily change limiting beliefs to empowered ones, turn doubt into fuel, which will 10X your ability to use the law of assumption.

All enegetic blockages turned around.

Here is a powerful example that I currently use:

Say I am setting intentions to make a trip to Asia, how do I go about it?

I visualize myself living in the wish fulfilled. I close my eyes and see myself getting off the plane, passing through airport security, and everyone around is asian.

Like all intention setting, doubts begin to arise. The logical mind sees a lot of blanks, and it wants to fill them so things add up and make sense. You think "I don't have the money", "Asia is not safe", "I don't have a passport yet" "yada yada yada blah blah blah", then the emotions rush in for dramatic effect and the next thing you know, you are seconds away from panic, worry, and his buddy anxiety are closing in on you. Next thing you know, you are thinking, "all this worry and nerves, how do I know I haven't botched my intention?"

Here is what I do

I stop and let the emotions and thoughts take over, like letting go of a plane mid-air, letting it nose-dive, you won't crash immediately, so I then count to 10. Once I get to 10, I repeat the mantra "This is all for my benefit and is leading me to the wish fulfilled."

See three conditions that need to be met before your subconscious accepts a thought as a manifestation request.

See, negative emotions can ruin your intentions; all energy manifests.

Transmutation: Method to the Maddness

What the doubt affirmation does "all for my benefit and is leading me to the wish fulfilled" is that it gives your emotions direction, one that even your logical mind cannot stop. It says all these icky vibrations are for my benefit, fuel to the wish fulfilled. That thing that you desire.

You don't have to believe it, just repeat it like a defence mechanism, over time it will become easier to say, and soon you'll be doing it on auto. Whenever things go sideways, you say: all for my benefit, and it is leading me to the wish fulfilled. Had a bad day: all for my benefit, and it is leading me to the wish fulfilled. Car broke down: all for my benefit and is leading me to the wish fulfilled. The universe will be like ok, cool, you want all these bad vibes transformed by default into manifestation fuel, will just make that your default settings.

You stop worrying at this point, and when your next manifestation shows up, you'll know.

Self-Awareness: The Bridge

One cannot practice alchemy without self-awareness. Think of self-awareness as the light where your body is the laboratory. It lets you see what is happening in the energetic realms - the 4D, i.e mental and emotional layer of the human experience.

This way, once you start to feel an emotional storm build up, you have the awareness to notice it, choose not to absorb it and use your focused attention to redirect it as you see fit - I prefer affirmations, as you already know. This gives you control, and you are no longer just going along for a ride on the emotional rollercoaster; you are the pilot.

What you focus on multiplies, so if you redirect that negative energy towards grace, peace, joy or happiness, you mark that mentally as your wish fulfilled and let the affirmation do the heavy lifting. Worth it, I promise.

Alchemy in this sense begins the moment your self-awareness kicks in, that moment of pause for self-introspection, "how do I feel right now?", "What would I rather be feeling?", and "How do I get there from here"

Asking questions is the best way to get the analytical mind to cooperate with this redirection exercise.

Alchemy allows you to become your own healer from the inside out, taking pain, hurt and sorrow, transmuting it into wisdom, turning your inner lead into gold.

This is what I call true power - As within so without. Once you learn to tame and command the forces within you, the forces outside will move in sync, therefore producing what we call MAGIC.

You might turn lead into gold someday, who knows?
